Hi, I'm Bodhi.
Welcome to The Bodhi Spot. A place for healing, transformation and awakening.
Pyscho Spiritual Transformational Teacher and Counselor
I am a certified Life Coach and Counselor. I specialize in addiction/recovery support, meditation training, and men's work - helping men to discover and move into greater integrity, accountability, purpose and meaning in their lives.
I passionately believe that every challenge in life can be healed and transformed. I base this belief on my own life's journey and experience, the work I have done with thousands of others over the years, and the teachings, lives and examples of those wise and compassionate spiritual masters of the ages.
Licensed and Ordained Unity Minister since 1998
As a Unity minister for over 20 years with an interfaith, inclusive awareness, I offer a wide range of ministerial services and sacred ceremonies including weddings, infant welcoming ceremonies, home blessings, and speaking engagements. I offer affirmative prayer to help meet any and all of the challenges we face in our human condition while integrating our divine nature.
My journey of awakening began in 1990 when in a moment of clarity I released my addiction to drugs and alcohol. Becoming passionate about my own healing, I understood that in order to heal myself, I needed to serve others in their need for healing. This awareness led me to Unity where I received my call to Unity ministry. Along the way, in addition to my Unity ministerial training, licensing and ordination, I have studied metaphysics through the teachings of the 12 Step Recovery Program, A Course in Miracles, Buddhist meditation practices, Bhakti Yoga and Kirtan Sacred Chant (The Yoga of Devotion), and Native America Spirituality.
I provide sacred services and ceremonies for anyone desiring to honor and celebrate any and all of life's important moments.
HeartMath Certified Mentor and Provider
In my ongoing quest of awakening and wholeness, I have recently become certified as a HeartMath Mentor. The practice of HeartMath has been very useful and rewarding in my personal life. This certification allows me to use the incredible transformational tools of HeartMath with my clients.
Kundalini Yoga and Y.O.G.A. for Youth Certified Teacher
After practicing yoga for many years to de-stress and stay fit, I have recently competed 260 hours of training as a Kundalini and Y.O.G.A. for Youth teacher. Kundalini is a holistic practice that calls up a healthier and more fit body, a more brilliant and clear mind and a more radiant and peaceful spirit. Kundalini practices are fun, challenging and meaningful in creating a more fulfilling life.
Since being initiated in TM, Transcendental Meditation in 1991, I have been an enthusiastic practitioner and teacher of meditation. I practice and teach Mindfulness Meditation, Mantra Meditation, Insight Meditation, HeartMath, Sacred Chant, Oneness Blessing and Affirmative Guidance Meditation and Kundalini Yoga Meditation. I do this knowing that these practices heal the brain, open the heart, cultivate compassion and inspire more wholehearted living.
I have also created a teaching I call "The Bodhi LAMP." Loving Awareness Meditation Practice," inspired by the last teaching of the Buddha, "Be a lamp unto yourself." This practice brings together many of the best meditation teachings I have trained in over the years.
30+ years of Continuous Conscious Recovery
As a person in recovery for over 30 years, I have a deep understand of the causes and affects of addiction. It has given me great compassion in my support of others. Practicing the 12-steps was the foundation of my recovery and I have discovered along the way that there are other approaches to healing addiction that lead to lasting recovery.
I have recovered from my addictions to drug and alcohol. I practice sobriety today as a spiritual practice that allows me to be fully present to all that life brings while experiencing personal freedom. I no longer see myself as a broken alcoholic but rather a whole human being integrating my shadows and challenges into everyday life. One of my goals is to help others do the same.
I am also aware of the effects of addiction of loved ones. I offer counseling and support to those affected by the addictions of loved one.
Initiated ManKind Project New Warrior and other Men's Work
In 2013 I become aware of the ManKind Project and was initiated as a New Warrior Brother. I continue to sit in circle with real men looking for real results for positive change in their lives. There is great power in a man who is willing to look at himself and break the cycles of violence, greed and control. As we open up to our true power, we learn that collaboration is always more powerful than competition. We learn to support each other in our awakening.
As a man among men, I am courageously compassionate and dedicated to helping men become more aligned with their true purpose. The day of the macho jerk and the new age wimp are over. Now is the time for men to live in greater integrity and accountability while creating a safer world for all.
Along with participating in MKP, I now facilitate a Men's Healing Group at the new Soulville location on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.
The Bodhi Spot
Why Bodhi? Early in my journey I was introduced to Jack Kornfield. Jack trained as a Buddhist Monk and holds a Ph.D in Psychology, specializing in Buddhist Psychology and meditation practice. He is one of the key people responsible in bringing Mindfulness meditation practice to the west. Upon reading his book, A Path With Heart, I was taken by his definition of a Bodhisattava. That definition is, " a being committed to the path of awakening." This definition resonates deeply in my soul. As a minister, as a person in recovery, as a man with courageous compassion to make the world a better place, I claimed the name Bodhi to remind me of my mission, vision and purpose in the world. Doing this did not make me a Buddhist. It did give me a greater definition to my life's purpose. I have also discovered that I am an integrationist, and per my Unity training I take the best from the world's spiritual, psychological and self-help tradition and integrate them into my life while teaching them to others.
My spiritual goal is to become the best human being I can be.
I understand that we are all spiritual being having a human experience. Therefore, the work is to integrate our spirituality into our humanity: becoming fully awake and present to the gifts of this life in this lifetime.
I am committed to awakening and helping others do the same. Awakening happens as we heal our addictions, wounds, traumas and challenges; and uncover and rediscover our true nature. I believe that life brings us our challenges to help us look at the areas where we need to grow. Instead of denying, repressing or ignoring our challenges, we become willing to dive deeper into them to find the gold in the shadows.
If you are facing one or several of life's challenges and are looking for healing, hope and wholeness, I invite you to allow me to guide you into more health and peace of mind while creating an opportunity for you to live the life you are here to live.
My Invitation to You
Commit to awakening! Be willing to answer the longing of your heart to heal, transform and awaken. Reclaim your life and live your highest purpose now. Be who you were created to be and let me help you. Together we will step into the sunlight of the spirit and experience happiness, meaning, wholeness and satisfaction like never before.
The process looks like this:
Heal: Discover, face, feel and release past trauma, addictions, behaviors, negative patterns and fears.
Transform: Create new patterns as you learn that you are not your past experiences. Integrate the desires, hopes and dreams of your new life.
Awaken: Live every moment with a new consciousness, affirming and knowing that all things are working for your highest and best.
